Russian long-range aviation routine patrols

Moscow, September 11, 2008 - Two Russian Tu-160 strategic bombers (Engels AF Base) have successfully completed flight in accordance with a plan of aerial guard duty.

Russian AF planes have landed at Venezuela's Libertador military airfield on Wednesday as part of military maneuvers.

The flight lasted for more than 13 hours.

During the flight Russian aircraft were accompanied by NATO fighters.

The bombers will conduct a number of training flights over neutral waters in the next few days and later return to their home base in Russia.

Russian Long-range aviation routinely fly at air patrols over neutral waters of the Arctic, Atlantic, Black Sea, Pacific, as with the base, and with operational airfields.

Flight crews raise their trainig level during flights over "textureless" area.

Russian Air Force flights are carried out in strict accordance with International regulations on the use of airspace over neutral waters, without violating the borders of other states.
