MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota -- BAE Systems has received an order worth $17 million for 4,702 Vehicle Emergency Escape (VEE) Window kits from the U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command. The kits will be used on the M1151 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV).

The patent-pending VEE Window technology enables soldiers to quickly exit the vehicle in the event of an emergency, such as a rollover or accident, by releasing and pushing the front window out in seconds.

"Our troops constantly face uncertain outcomes on the battlefield and it's critical to ensure their survival now and in the future," said Dennis Morris, president of BAE Systems Armament Systems. "The VEE Window is another example of life-saving technologies proven to be valuable in safeguarding soldiers and Marines in the midst of a combat situation."

More than 3,000 VEE Window kits have been shipped to the U.S. Army for the up-armored M1114 and M1151 HMMWVs. The windows are adaptable to many tactical up-armored combat vehicles, including Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles or Marine Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements.

The VEE Window is easy to use and install, requires minimum maintenance, has a very low life-cycle cost and can be installed in the field by trained Army and Marine maintenance crews.
