WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced April 2 that the President has made the following nominations:

Navy Reserve Capt. Douglas J. Asbjornsen has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Asbjornsen is currently serving as deputy commander, Navy Region Northwest, Reserve Component Command Northwest, Everett, Wash.

Navy Reserve Capt. Charles K. Carodine has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Carodine is currently serving as chief of staff, Joint Operations-Joint Task Force, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk.

Navy Reserve Capt. Anatolio B. Cruz III has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Cruz is currently serving as deputy commander, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego.

Navy Reserve Capt. Robin L. Graf has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Graf is currently serving as Reserve director, J9, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk.

Navy Reserve Capt. John E. Jolliffe has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Jolliffe is currently serving as joint Navy emergency preparedness liaison officer, Navy Region Southwest, San Diego.

Navy Reserve. Capt. Robert J. Kamensky has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Kamensky is currently serving as chief of staff, Submarine Forces Reserve Component, Norfolk.

Navy Reserve Capt. Ron J. Maclaren has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Maclaren is currently serving as commodore, Navy Cargo Handling and Port Group 3, Williamsburg, Va.

Navy Reserve Capt. David G. Russell has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Russell is currently serving as deputy chief of staff, strategic effects, Multi-National Force-Iraq.
