WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced April 15 that the President has made the following nominations:

Navy Rear Adm. Richard W. Hunt has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as commander, 3rd Fleet, San Diego, Calif. Hunt is currently serving as director, Programming Division, N80, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Navy Vice Adm. Samuel J. Locklear III has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as director, Navy Staff, N09B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Locklear is currently serving as commander, 3rd Fleet, San Diego, Calif.

Navy Vice Adm. John C. Harvey Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va. Harvey is currently serving as director, Navy Staff, N09B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Navy Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as vice chief of naval operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Greenert is currently serving as commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Adm. Patrick M. Walsh has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Walsh is currently serving as vice chief of naval operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
