CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded a contract to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for four new product tankers being built in Brazil.

The Estaleiro Maua shipyard, near Rio de Janeiro, will build the four ships for delivery to Transpetro, the shipping arm of Petrobras, the Brazilian state oil company.

Sperry Marine is supplying a complete VisionMaster FT(TM) IBS, with WideView(TM) high-resolution displays. The system includes a three-node electronic chart display and information system, navigation radars, adaptive self-tuning autopilot, voyage data recorder, speed and heading sensors, and other navigation components. Sperry Marine's sales and service representative in Brazil, Vision Marine Ltda, will be responsible for installation, commissioning and servicing the equipment on the vessels.

"Brazil is an important market for Sperry Marine," said J. Nolasco DaCunha, vice president of Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine. "The Transpetro contract is the latest in a series of recent orders to supply navigation systems for new ships being built in Brazil,
including offshore supply vessels and military patrol craft. An important reason for our successes in the Brazilian shipbuilding market
is Vision Marine's outstanding reputation for technical and service support."

The four-ship order at the Maua shipyard is part of Transpetro's multi-billion-dollar modernization and renewal program for its tanker fleet, involving the construction of some 42 ships at Brazilian shipyards.

Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine, headquartered in Charlottesville, Va., and with major engineering and support offices in New Malden, United Kingdom and Hamburg, Germany, provides smart navigation and ship control solutions for the international marine industry with customer service and support through offices in 16 countries, sales representatives in 47 countries and authorized service depots in more than 250 locations worldwide.
