WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced Sept. 15 that the President has made the following nominations:
Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Gregory J. Smith has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral. Smith is currently serving as director of communication/strategic effects, U.S. Forces - Afghanistan/NATOs International Security and Assistance Force - Afghanistan.
