Lockheed Martin Names New General Counsel
June 24, 2010

BETHESDA, Md., -Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Board of Directors today named Maryanne R. Lavan as the corporation's new Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Lavan, who currently serves as Lockheed Martin's Vice President of Internal Audit, succeeds James B. Comey, whose departure from the company was announced earlier this month.

"Maryanne has demonstrated the deep knowledge, good judgment and unquestionable integrity required for this vital role on our leadership team," said Lockheed Martin Chairman and CEO Bob Stevens. "Having worked with her for more than a decade, I have great confidence in Maryanne's ability to provide solid legal advice and help guide our business decisions. Her experience, adaptability and credibility make her especially well suited to this role in the current business environment."

Prior to her current position, which she has held since 2007, Lavan, 51, served as the Corporation's Vice President of Ethics and Business Conduct, responsible for ensuring that all employees are trained to meet Lockheed Martin's high standards for ethical behavior and business conduct. In this role--as in her current role--she worked directly with the Corporation's Board of Directors, earning their trust and confidence. Previously, she served as Vice President and General Counsel for Lockheed Martin's Electronic Systems business area and as Assistant General Counsel.

Before joining Lockheed Martin in April 1990, Lavan worked for a law firm in Washington, D.C., specializing in government contracts and white-collar crime matters.
