Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen will conduct a press briefing at 1 p.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, 2E579.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn speaks at the grand opening of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at 11 a.m. EDT. The NICoE, a state-of-the-art research, diagnosis and treatment center for Service members and veterans with diagnosed Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and psychological health conditions, is located at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen will speak at The Hill newspaper's Tribute to the Troops breakfast at 8:30 a.m. EDT at the Washington Court Hotel Atrium Ballroom, 525 New Jersey Ave, NW.

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen hosts an honor cordon to welcome General Ryoichi Oriki, Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, Japan Self-Defense Force, to the Pentagon at 10:15 a.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance and will be followed by a tree planting ceremony in the Pentagon courtyard.

The Undersecretary of the Army Joseph W. Westphal will provide remarks at a Pentagon ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. The ceremony will be held in the center courtyard beginning at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

A National Capital Region Flyover of Arlington National Cemetery occurs at 9 a.m. EDT with two T-6's.

The Senate Armed Services Committee considers the nominations of: Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, for reappointment to the grade of general and Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command and Lt. Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, to be general and Commander, U.S. Forces-Iraq at 9:30 a.m. EDT in room SD-G50, Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Policy James N. Miller Jr. and Director, Defense Threat Reduction Agency Kenneth A. Myers III testify at a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the new START treaty at 10 a.m. EDT in room 419, Dirksen Senate Office Building.
