MCLEAN, Va. – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been honored with the Air Force Association's (AFA) 2010 Hoyt S. Vandenberg Award, recognizing contributions to the field of aerospace education, for its role as presenting sponsor of CyberPatriot.

The award will be presented at the AFA Air and Space Conference in National Harbor, Md. on Sept. 14, 2010.

"We are proud of our entire CyberPatriot team, and appreciate Northrop Grumman for their support of CyberPatriot and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education," said Joe Sutter, Chairman of the Board for AFA. "The Hoyt S. Vandenberg Award recognizes AFA's strong commitment to education and we are honored to have Northrop Grumman share our vision for this important cyber education initiative."

CyberPatriot is the national high school cyber defense competition designed to excite, educate, and motivate the next generation of cyber defenders. Northrop Grumman announced in May 2010 that it would be the presenting sponsor of CyberPatriot III, investing time and resources over the 2010-2011 school year to assist in coaching teams and mentoring students. The company's involvement in CyberPatriot will contribute to building a talent base in the cybersecurity field that will ultimately ensure the country's future cyber protection.

"Northrop Grumman is honored to receive the Vandenberg Award," said Linda Mills, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman Information Systems. "We are committed to supporting STEM and as a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions we believe it is our responsibility to help build the pipeline of qualified cyber professionals."

Established in 1948, the Hoyt S. Vandenberg Award is one of the Air Force Association's top awards. It is given in recognition of the most outstanding contribution in the field of aerospace education.

Northrop Grumman is actively engaged in supporting cybersecurity education, training and technology. In addition to sponsoring CyberPatriot, the company has formed a Cybersecurity Research Consortium, an industry/academia partnership addressing the cybersecurity challenges of the future and is a co-sponsor of the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
