LOCKHEED MARTIN JLTV TEAM RESPONDS TO U.S. ARMY, MARINE CORPS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON LIGHT COMBAT VEHICLE

Owego, NY, September 16th, 2008 -- The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Team led by Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] has responded to a Request for Information for a lighter, more maneuverable military vehicle that also provides protection comparable to the Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicle.

"Our solution, the Lockheed Martin Combat Vehicle-Light (CVL), is an extension of Lockheed Martin's JLTV family of vehicles and combines MRAP-level protection with superior mobility, agility and payload capacity," said Louis DeSantis, vice president and general manager of Ground Vehicle Systems at Lockheed Martin. "Every detail of the CVL is designed to maximize the effectiveness and survivability of today's modern warfighter."

The Lockheed Martin team includes BAE Systems Mobility & Protection Systems based in Houston, TX. "M&PS is a leader in survivability and mobility solutions," said Dennis M. Dellinger, the unit's president. "Through BAE's proven advanced armor solutions and automotive engineering support we're able to ensure that the JLTV family of vehicles is able to meet the requirements of warfighters both today and tomorrow."

The Lockheed Martin-led Team also includes:
" Alcoa Defense, supplying materials experience, design services and aluminum components that give the vehicle its structural strength at reduced weight; and
" JWF - Defense Systems, offering state-of-the-art machining and cost-effective fabrication.
Lockheed Martin serves as the prime contractor and design agent, providing systems engineering, platform integration, design expertise, and program and supply chain management;

The Lockheed Martin Team is scheduled to feature its third JLTV prototype, the General Purpose Mobility Vehicle Payload Category A model, later this month at Modern Day Marine and at the Association of the United States Army's Annual Meeting and Exhibition in October.
