SELEX Galileo to boost its partnerships with Asia at DSA 2010
19 April 2010

SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, is looking to strengthen its presence in Asia at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference 2010, an important procurement hub for defence and security in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region.

The Company will be pursuing opportunities relating to the building of an organic maritime patrol and reconnaissance capability as well as responding to the region’s significant Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) requirements.

SELEX Galileo is already involved with a series of upcoming requirements in Malaysia to enhance the Country’s Surveillance, Protection and Land & Battlespace capabilities. SELEX Galileo’s range of systems can offer significant improvements to situational awareness and can enhance the security of front-line troops. The Company is aiming to deliver the latest technology into the country to meet the upgrade needs of the Malaysian Navy, Air Force, Army and Police Force.

SELEX Galileo understands the need for Malaysia to better patrol the Malacca Straits against piracy and smuggling and will be promoting systems that can boost capabilities in this area such as the ATOS (Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance) system complemented by SELEX Galileo’s range of EO and Radar sensors. SELEX Galileo will be looking to promote its robust and ready-for-operation FALCO tactical Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). For indigenous Malaysian UAS, SELEX Galileo will be offering the smaller, lighter PicoSAR AESA radar, which provides an unrivalled all weather capability.

In the Training and Simulation area, SELEX Galileo is working on different opportunities also with the involvement of local Companies on Firefighting Simulators, UAV BattleLab and Full Mission Simulators.

In the Land, EO & Battlespace sector, SELEX Galileo is promoting the Future Soldier Individual Combat Fire Control and Observation System for the Malaysian Army Commando forces and Malaysian Police. The Future Soldier System increases lethality and situational awareness in a continuously changing battlefield. For the Malaysian Army’s Wheeled Vehicle programme, the Company will be promoting a variety of systems including the Drivers Night Vision System (DNVS), designed to enhance the night-time operability of an Armoured Fighting Vehicle.

SELEX Galileo’s world-leading Electronic Warfare (EW) offering is also showcased and the Company will be promoting SEER, a next-generation Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) that improves the survivability of modern fighter aircraft. SEER can identify and prioritise RF signals in a hostile threat environment, helping fixed-wing aircraft evade danger and heightening the probability of mission success.

SELEX Galileo will be present at DSA on Finmeccanica’s stand (Hall 4, Stand 4102).
