Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates will visit Fort Leavenworth on Friday, May 7, 2010. He will address Command and General Staff College students at the Lewis and Clark Center's Eisenhower Auditorium at 3 p.m. CDT. News media representatives are invited to cover the secretary's speech which is expected to last from 20 to 30 minutes. Following the speech, the secretary will conduct a short question and answer session with CGSC students, but that is closed to press coverage. Secretary Gates will make himself available for a brief press availability with local and traveling reporters immediately following the question and answer session.
Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.
