A United Kingdom General Election will take place on 6 May 2010. During the pre-election period UK Government Department websites and social media presences are subject to restrictions.
Cabinet Office guidelines require the Ministry of Defence not to publish any new content on our websites (including blogs) which could draw public attention away from the election campaign, call the political impartiality of the Armed Forces or wider Department into question, or that could leave MOD open to criticism that public resources are being used for party political purposes.
To meet these guidelines, we will only publish new posts to the Defence News Blog in exceptional circumstances throughout the election period and will not be sending out the Defence Daily Update to our email subscribers.
Normal service will resume after the General Election.
