The GD6000 vehicle-rugged notebook is the first Itronix computer to
be Gobi-enabled, delivering fast, secure Internet connectivity for mobile
workers virtually anywhere, anytime, worldwide via leading 3G
networks.

SUNRISE, Fla., -- General Dynamics Itronix will offer Qualcomm's Gobi(TM) global mobile Internet technology as a new capability for the Itronix line of rugged notebooks, tablet PCs and ultra-mobile PCs, including the vehicle-rugged GD6000 and the fully rugged line of GD8000 notebook computers. The multi-mode Gobi technology enables General Dynamics Itronix customers to take advantage of high-speed, data access services from 3G network carriers around the world.

"With Gobi technology integrated into our rugged mobile computers, our customers have the high-speed data capabilities of multiple broadband networks with fast, secure connectivity," said John Schneider, business unit director for General Dynamics Itronix. "Whether it's a police officer, field technician or mobile worker, our goal is to offer the greatest range of connectivity so they can perform their jobs quickly."

With Gobi's technology in General Dynamics Itronix notebooks, IT departments can simplify their operations by procuring and deploying one notebook in a wireless wide area network (WWAN) configuration, enabling global connectivity among multiple carriers. The embedded technology significantly reduces the need to support multiple embedded or external cards and reduces the number of hardware assets that need IT management. To keep the technology current, software updates are easily downloaded whenever the connection manager is launched.

"Having 'always-on' connectivity gives enterprises a significant advantage in their mobile workers' productivity and workplace efficiency," said Barry Matsumori, vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. "Gobi is a single-solution technology that supports greater flexibility and streamlines the management of mobile broadband access."

Available October 1, 2009, the vehicle-rugged GD6000 notebook is the first General Dynamics Itronix product to have embedded Gobi technology. GD8000 Gobi configurations will be available later in the month. Customers ordering Gobi-ready GD6000 and GD8000 notebooks equipped with WWAN and CRMA modules, before November 30, 2009, will be eligible to receive a free Gobi module valued at $350.00.
