Spectra Group (UK) Ltd, the leading UK-based telecommunication service provider to governmental, military and security organisations, is demonstrating the latest version of SHADE, a self-contained rapid deployment network infrastructure, at DSEi 2009 on stand numbers 2149 and 778. SHADE provides a reliable and unique solution to restore voice and data communications where high intensity conflicts, natural disasters, pandemics or terrorist attacks may have destroyed existing networks. It can also be used for tactical, operational or strategic extremely challenging environments.
SHADE provides a bespoke ‘Unclassified’ wide area network comprising all necessary hardware and software in a wide range of portable, tactical configurations that can be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world. It is scalable to meet every requirement and uses standard off the shelf technology utilising customisable hardware such as ruggedised laptops and IP phones with proven levels of performance and reliability. All equipment is packaged in rugged, portable air checkable containers.
According to Simon Davies, Managing Director of Spectra Group (UK) Ltd: “Effective communications are essential to achieve successful operational outcomes. SHADE can be deployed at short notice anywhere in the world and will provide personnel with access to high quality voice, data and video communications in any environment.”
SHADE is rapidly deployable and delivers secure voice and data services, using AES or any other government approved encryption technology to SHADE Central, Spectra’s UK-based Network Operations Centre (NOC) where connectivity to the public telecommunications networks exists. All communication links and support desk functions are monitored around the clock and the NOC is duplicated at a geographically separated location to ensure 100% redundancy.
SHADE is modular and scalable to meet the specific requirements of individual users. The standard configuration comprises Voice (VoIP) and Data (Internet) enabling a wide range of IT services to be delivered. SHADE is provided as a fully managed service including airtime, manpower and equipment. Shelters, power, lighting, tables and chairs can also be included as part of this service when required.
The Spectra Group of companies is based in Herefordshire and provides a full range of telecommunication services and resources for a wide range of defence and security clients worldwide. It has established an enviable reputation for delivering a high quality, professional service often in hazardous and hostile environments.
